Halfway between Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the village of Bidart dominates the ocean. Its six beaches are all supervised in summer. They each have their attractions: the beach of Ilbarritz is overhung by a castle, that of Erretegia has a ground of petanque facing the sea, the beach of the center is the favourite of the families. The resort of Bidart is appreciated by snow sports enthusiasts for its natural setting and the width of its beaches, and also has several surf schools. The city of Bidart also hosts an international golf training centre: the 7-hectare practice offers 13 different learning workshops. The Ilbarritz golf course is unique in Europe both for the beauty of its site and for the size and variety of its training course. In Bidart, you can also enjoy an amusement park, with rides and animal park: open from April to October, the “Bid’A Park” offers, on 8000 m2, inflatable games, carousels, water games, and a mini-farm. Finally, the centre of the Basque Country village, with its half-timbered Basque houses and pelota pediment, is the venue for all the events and activities: traditional markets, guided tours, pelota tournaments, folk dances, Basque song festivals (Bidarten Kantuz), parish fairs, farmers’ markets and night markets, traditional brasserie concerts, royal cow races and Toro de Fuego.
Campsite La ferme Erromardie is 7 km from downtown Bidart. It is thus in about ten minutes by car that you reach the old Basque fishing village, by way of Guéthary. Uhabia beach, the southernmost of Bidart’s guarded beaches, is only 5 km from campsite Erromardie. It is thus also possible to go there by bicycle.
