Tourism on the Basque coast
Your campsite La ferme Erromardie, on the Basque coast
Located north of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, just a stone’s throw from the ocean, La Ferme Erromardie, a Pays Basque campsite, is ideally placed for discovering the Basque coastline: less than 5 km from Guéthary and Ciboure, 15 km from Hendaye and Biarritz, La Ferme Erromardie is equidistant from the most remarkable sites in the Basque Country.
Discover the Basque coast
Stretching over 160 km from Anglet to Muskiz in the Spanish Basque Country, the Basque coast is a coastline of character, where fine sandy beaches alternate with rocky cliffs. The French part of the Basque coast is more restricted, stretching between Bayonne and Hendaye, from the mouth of the Adour to the Spanish border: 35 km between sea and mountains, dotted with fishing and yachting harbours, family resorts and renowned surf spots. From the festive spirit of Bayonne to the frontier character of Hendaye, via the unspoilt nature of the Anglet coastline, the imperial past of Biarritz and the corsair city of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the Basque coast offers a wide variety of atmospheres and landscapes to discover.
Among the most beautiful villages on the coast is Ciboure, birthplace of Maurice Ravel, a corsair town and charming port on the Bay of Socoa, which has inspired numerous painters. A little further north, Guéthary is the smallest village on the entire Basque coast. This well-preserved former fishing village is a picturesque wooded setting much appreciated by surfers. At the heart of the French Basque coast, Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a town of many attractions: a former whaling port, it also welcomed Louis XIV on the occasion of his marriage to Maria Theresa of Austria. A seaside resort with six beaches on the Bay of Socoa, Saint-Jean-de-Luz is also a charming city with pedestrian streets and a wide range of shops, a city of art and history, and a fishing port.
